Full Year Band Level  - FYBL

The Full Year Band Level classes will be advanced full year classes that guide students through 5 levels of progressions in parkour. These classes will help the students work through fear and embrace more difficult challenges, all while keeping safety in mind. Students will start as beginners learning the foundational moves to help them progress to more advanced movements as they climb through the levels.

Unlike the recreational classes, the band system classes have a laid-out path to follow, and a lot more independent aspects where students will be focused on achieving skills that they individually are struggling with. This type of class is for those who enjoy challenges and would like to pursue parkour as a sport and even compete in Serratus-hosted parkour events!

Our band system is divided into Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced classes.

  • Beginner classes will be made up of students working toward their Level 1 and 2 bands

  • Intermediate classes will be made up of students working toward their Level 3 and 4 bands

  • Advanced classes will be made up of students working toward their Level 5 bands.

Level ASSESSMENTS

To determine which band level they should be working toward, the students interested in this program will test their skill level in an Assessment. This will help ensure that they are placed in a class that is appropriate for where they are in their parkour progression. These sessions are an hour long, and will take place before every new registration period. You can register for yours at the front desk!

Assessments for the 2024-2025 season of classes will be held in June 2024

Level Descriptions

Students who succeed in passing a level will receive a physical band to signify their accomplishments and to let the trainers know which skills to be training.

Students working toward Level 1 (GREEN BAND) will be focusing on building strength and learning the foundational movements and safety of doing parkour while being aware of their environment.

Students working towards Level 2 (PURPLE BAND) will be rounding out the foundational movements, putting focus on chaining movements together and emphasizing the importance of hand and foot placement.

Students working toward their Level 3 (YELLOW BAND) will be fully confident with all of the basics and will be starting to learn more advanced parkour movements and introducing skills on rails as well as controlling timing and speed.

Students working towards their Level 4 (RED BAND) will continue on with advanced movements, and they will begin chaining moves together and putting more emphasis on flow and creating lines of their own.

Students working toward their Level 5 (BLACK BAND) will be working on some of the most advanced moves in parkour all while combining previous techniques from earlier levels to create advanced parkour lines. Once a student has achieved their Level 5 band, they will be equipped with advanced parkour skills and knowledge, have the freedom to create using their movement, the ability to continue to push themselves safely, and a broad base of movement skills from which they can develop their own unique style.

Band Level System FAQ:

  1. What are the differences between Recreational and Band Level System classes?

The main difference is that the level system classes will have a laid-out path to follow through the 5 levels of parkour within the system. The level classes will have a lot more independent aspects where students will be focused on achieving skills that they are struggling with.

  2. Do I need to have taken classes before to be in Level classes?

You do not need to be a member previously for you to sign up for these classes. They start out at a beginner level, so anyone can join!

  3. Is the class right for me?

This class is for someone who likes challenges and doesn’t mind being pushed or pushing themselves. It is for those who enjoy parkour and would like to progress to harder skills!

  4. Do I need to take Level classes?

No, you do not need to, it is an option that we have. If you want something a bit more casual, we offer recreational classes. If you are looking for something to get you moving without being too serious, these classes will be better for you.

  5. When will I be able to move to the next level?

Once you have completed the testing for the level you are working towards and passed the requirements, it shows us that you are prepared for the next level.

  6. What if I'm too short to be able to do the skills?

We have carefully thought out the challenges to make sure that skill and technique are the things that matter most to meet the skill requirements during testing. Height might give you a slight advantage for some things and be a hindrance in others but it's not the deciding factor. All challenges in parkour are unique and do not cater to one size.

  7. Is there a Band Level System for Ninja Warrior?

Yes! Click here for more information.
