I decided to hire a personal trainer after I began feeling burnt out at the gym, and basically hit a rut. Hiring Kevin was an easy decision, I knew of his thorough background of exercise and Sport Science. I have been using Kevin Coates as my personal trainer and Nutrition Coach for many years. Besides being a great guy to deal with, his knowledge of fitness and nutrition is second to none.

Several years ago I required open heart surgery to replace a valve and a second one that leaked, although they fixed the problems, I unfortunately ended up requiring a pacemaker. Kevin was hesitant at first but after intensive research and prep on his part, he felt comfortable working with me and started me on an incredible program designed for my specific heart surgery recovery.

I have two full knee replacements, but again due to Kevin’s vast research knowledge he is able to prepare programs that deal with the full gambit of fitness working comfortably around the knee problems.

Kevin’s workouts are challenging and insightful. Every movement and exercise has a specific purpose and his emphasis on doing the routine properly versus just powering one’s way through has proven incredibly beneficial.

After having my second child, I made the decision to start my own personal fitness journey. I knew that being “fit” was what I wanted, but wasn’t sure how it would work for me. The thought of going to a “gym” terrified me, so I wanted someone who could come to my house.

Liisa was referred to me as a personal trainer who could do in-home training. She immediately understood my fitness goals and how to get there.

Kevin has been my personal trainer for four years. Having worked with other trainers, I would rank him as the best trainer and coach with whom I have worked. As a former recreational competitive runner, I was immediately impressed with Kevin’s knowledge not only about training but also his knowledge about nutrition and diet. Kevin clearly is well read and as such is current in new researched advances in training and nutrition. Kevin is always available to provide answers to questions and provides additional informative articles to guide your routines.

His approach to my training program has allowed someone who understood training from a running perspective , to make an easy transition to the gym (can’t run any more). As a teacher, I look forward to long, lazy days on the patio or on the dock recharging before I start to plan for the next school year. However, I do start to miss my daily routine. The trainers and members at Serratus create such a fun, welcoming atmosphere that it doesn’t seem like such a chore to get out of bed for Bootcamp. Joining Serratus and working with a personal trainer has been such a positive experience for me.
